The new poster for Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian is an exercise is kicking subtlety in the groin with a steel toe-capped sledgehammer, but it’s certainly preferable to another floating face collage.
The recent trailer seemed to confirm expectations that this retelling of the Conan tale will be full of violence and growling, which is not without its charm and Jason Momoa seems to embody the long haired hero with a big sword type pretty well. The supporting cast has Stephen Lang, Leo Howards and Rachel Nichols and Nispel knows his way around an on screen slaughtering or two.
Still not convinced? Check out the new poster,
As you can tell IGN had it first. And from gamesdbase.com we have a nice comparison for what might have been. Actually – Wolf from Gladiators and Maria Whittaker would work – anyone got the phone number for The Asylum?
Lynne Ramsay’s adapatation of the accalimed Lionel Shriver novel We Need to Talk About Kevin unveils itself in the next few weeks as part of the 64th Cannes Film Festival and looks certain to bring the controversial and bleak story to the screen with style.
Certainly the nature of the novel and its subject matter will make for an intense film, and Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly have the uneviable task of examining their broken family life following their son’s role in a high-school massacre. The clips don’t suggest an easy watch and the interplay glimpsed here is thick with subdued emotions.
We’ve seen a few stills from the production already but now three short clips have surfaced and are the perfect introduction to the film which won’t see a UK cinema release until the 2nd of September.

Yesterday before the Pirates of the Caribbean screening, Disney chose to show us the full theatrical version of the trailer for Real Steel which they are distributing for Dreamworks. Bottom line, it looks absolutely awesome!!
Real Steel is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand. It’ll be with us in the UK 7th October.
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championshipcontender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
Now, in all it’s glory, here is the new theatrical full length trailer!
Catherine Hardwicke, the director previously responsible for adapting Twilight and the Red Riding Hood fairytale for cinema audiences, appears to have taken a hiatus from supernatural teen romances; with the news that she is to adapt Martha O’Connor’s 2006 “The Bitch Posse” demonstrating a greater grounding in reality.
The novel, which follows a trio of high school friends into adulthood, jumping as it does between two different timelines, chronicles the breakdown of friendship that leaves one character in a mental institution, another a promiscuous writer and the third navigating a loveless marriage.
With a script by Tristine Skyler, and entering production under Miranda Bailey and Matthew Leutwyler’s Ambush Entertainment (Super) banner, The Bitch Posse certainly boasts enough angst to keep the Lords of Dogtown director busy.
He’s the first peek at the promotional banner for the new TV adaptation of cult 80’s coming-of-age flick, Teen Wolf, and judging by the image and tagline here (Love. Be Afraid), we’re looking at a very different beast to the Michael J. Fox comedy.
It would appear that the light, playful tone of the original material has been jettisoned and the makers are going for a much darker, edgier feel here. In this version, Scott (Tyler Posey) battles to control his animalistic urges after being bitten, but fears that those urges could end up controlling him!
Sounds like a far cry from Fox’s dilemmas, where all he had to contend with was scratching his high-school crush during a make-out session and winning the basketball championship.
I had no idea until Brendon from Bleeding Cool told me yesterday that Kermit the Frog is 56 years old! He celebrated his birthday yesterday and then I come home from watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to find this video showing Kermit the Frog interviewing the stars of the movie and it’s a right laugh!
You’ll have to wait until next week for our review of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 but if you want a laugh, check out this video of Kermit interviewing the likes of Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Keith Richards, Penelope Cruz, director Rob Marshall and many more celebrities at the World Premiere in Disney Land.

The fourth installment of the Disney/Bruckheimer Pirates of the Caribbean is days away from its Cannes debut and we are under strict embargo not to divulge our opinion of the film so we’re bringing you something a little more unusual.
The Legoisation (which should be a word) of popular franchises has the power to breathe new life into otherwise poor properties – is there any doubt at all that the Star Wars prequels video game series would have been gladly ignored had they not been rendered in stunning Leg-o-vision?
While this is not an official video MTV have created their own stop motion video celebrating Captain Jack Sparrow and his merry crew and it’s a true labour of love and well worth a look.
