17 Again
November 11th, 2009
On the brink of a midlife crisis, 30-something Mike O’Donnell (Matthew Perry) wishes he could have a “do-over.” And that’s exactly what he gets when he wakes up one morning to find he’s 17 years old again. With his adult mind stuck inside the body of a teenager (Zac Efron), Mike actually has the chance to reverse some decisions he wishes he’d never made. But maybe they weren’t so bad after all. Leslie Mann and Michelle Trachtenberg co-star.
This was a surprisingly GOOD movie! I had no interest in seeing it, thinking it was more a young person’s movie, but it is definitely NOT for younger children. This is a really GREAT romantic comedy, for older teens and adults (my 8 and 11 year old boys were bored). This has a very cute, VERY heartwarming story, that made me tear up several times with the father-daughter relationship. (though I get choked up watching Little House on the Prairie) It also had many laugh out loud moments, many involving bullies, nerds/geeks, and dating rituals between high schoolers. PLUS, this story is fairly original. It is NOT a copy of Freaky Friday or Big, or even 18 Again with George Burns. This Zac Efron is popular for a reason. He’s very likeable, seems really talented, and I look forward to seeing him in more non-High School Musical movies. If you like romantic comedies, 17 Again is a movie for you!
